AITA for Delivery Room Decision

OP

Viral case from X, rule on it: AITA for letting my mom in the delivery room but not my husband's mom? My son was born 3 weeks ago. Before he was born I told my husband I wanted only him and my mom in the room. He agreed. His mom found out and was really hurt. She said she never had a daughter and this was her chance. She's lovely, but she talks nonstop when she's nervous and I knew I wouldn't be able to relax. On the day she drove 3 hours and waited in the hallway for 9 hours. Nobody asked her to. Near the end a nurse asked if she could come in and I said no. My husband went out to tell her and she cried in the hallway loud enough that the nurses heard. Now she's barely held the baby and my husband says I humiliated her and should have let her in for 5 minutes at the end. I think I'm the one who gave birth so I get to choose. AITA?

The ruling

Verdict: OP is not the A-hole for excluding her husband's mother from the delivery room. She communicated her preferences ahead of time, and it was a mutual agreement with her husband.

Ruling: Birth is a deeply personal experience, and OP has the right to choose who is present during such an intimate moment.

Sentence: Husband's mother has to treat OP to a nice lunch as a peace offering.
